Side A. Blue Suede Shoes
Side B. Tutti Frutti
Elvis recorded Blue Suede Shoes at RCA's New York Studio on January 30th 1956, the main reason for this session was to lay down tracks for his album release, and according to Sam Phillips, Steve Sholes promised not to release the track as a single, while Carl Perkins's record was still in the chart. According to Scotty Moore, Elvis made the song as more a tribute to his friend more than anything else, he had been talking to the band about it, but wasn't sure he could better it, and then he just decided to do it, recalls Scotty. Elvis give this the full works, it is a touch faster and has more energy to it.
Blue Suede Shoes entered the Hot 100 at number 24, it remained on the chart for twelve weeks.
May 1956 was the release date for this single and May 31st 1956 was the date it would enter the chart and would peak at number 9, catalogue No.7m 405, and was released on His Master's Voice label, with gold or silver lettering on a purple label.
