This EP was placed at the number 1 slot for 29 weeks, it stayed on the charts for a total of 54 weeks, there are four tracks from the King Creole soundtrack on this EP. King Creole, volume 1 was the one Elvis EP, which spent most weeks in the US charts and most weeks at number one. In sales it’s second only to the Jailhouse Rock EP only.

It was released on the HMV label (RCX 17) in the UK in October 1958, it never charted.
